DRUM DRUM & DJ DEXTER
The Show
This show combines the incredible turntable skills of World DMC champ DJ Dexter with fierce log drumming from the South Pacific, featuring Airi Ingram on Drum Kit and MPC, log drummers from Papua New Guinea and the Cook Islands, and MCVJ from Haiti. All these crazy beats combined with a crew of Krump dancers from Polynesia, and you have one of the most exciting new collaborations to emerge out of Melbourne Australia.
The performance uses traditional indigenous log drumming from the Highlands and Islands of PNG and Polynesia. The traditional rhythms are fused with contemporary urban beats influenced by hip hop, crunk, drum n bass and jungle.
Drum Drum and Dexter have performed in night clubs, festivals and arenas along side some of the biggest names in the business including the Mad Professor, DJ Shadow, and the Beastie Boys. The show has been featured on BET (Black Entertainment Network, USA)
