| This
show combines the incredible turntable skills of World DMC champ
DJ Dexter with fierce log drumming from the South Pacific, featuring
Airi Ingram on Drum Kit and MPC, log drummers from Papua New
Guinea and the Cook Islands, and MCVJ from Haiti. All these
crazy beats combined with a crew of Krump dancers from Polynesia,
and you have one of the most exciting new collaborations to
emerge out of Melbourne Australia. |

performance uses traditional indigenous log drumming from the
Highlands and Islands of PNG and Polynesia. The traditional
rhythms are fused with contemporary urban beats influenced by
hip hop, crunk, drum n bass and jungle. |

Drum and Dexter have performed in night clubs, festivals and
arenas along side some of the biggest names in the business
including the Mad Professor, DJ Shadow, and the Beastie Boys.

The members of Drum Drum draw upon their traditional indigenous
cultures and urban identity to create a new sound that brings
two worlds together as if they were one.
Rhythms from the jungles and the city are both fused together
with eloquence and groove that makes any dance floor move. The
log drums are called Garamut and Pate, the flutes are called
Kwakumba and come from the Highlands of PNG. They have collaborated
with the likes of Asia Beat and Lewis Pragasam of Malaysia,
the Sama Ballet of Sri Lanka, Purna Das Baul of India and Bob
Brosman of the USA.
The group has toured to many significant cultural events in
Australia and abroad including: Womad (UK, Australia, New Zealand),
Commonwealth Games in Manchester and Melbourne, Golden Jubille
event in London, tours throughout the USA from 2000-2006, South
America, Europe and the Pacific. |

new wave of dance culture has emerged in the metropolis of Melbourne.
Krump has made a real positive impact on the lives of many young
Islanders living in the big cities of Australia, now they are
beginning to grab the attention of the world with their fusion
of Krump and Polynesian dance.
These extremely high energy dancers have mesmerized and inspired
dance floors and festival audiences in Melbourne over the past
